Shotguns and tractors - not things I usually use to celebrate the 4th

Okay y'all, sorry for not blogging sooner with the winners but there is just way too much to do in the booming town of Gilmer, Texas.

For those of you not on Facebook with me, I've been involved in yet another post-pedi accident. I didn't get hurt this time, but my mom, niece and I left a nail salon in Longview Monday afternoon and we were heading to the grocery store when an old lady on her cell phone changed lanes right into the side of my mom's car. Awesome.

On Tuesday we drove about an hour each way and spent the day shopping, walking, etc. by the river in Shreveport, La.

Yesterday we grilled out, rode tractors and shot a 12-gauge shotgun in the backyard. I did not touch the gun myself or we might all have ended up maimed or worse with my track record.

I'm chilling at my mom's house while she and my niece went to the mall for more shopping because I kind of hate shopping and Monday was enough of that for me. They should be home in the next half hour and I'm not sure what our agenda will be but I'm just going to try to stay in one piece.

This is not fun typing blog posts on a cell phone by the way so I'm not elaborating on too much of what has happened this week but there has been plenty to laugh about.

Let's move on to the Music Monday winners. I can't very easily link to a bunch of You Tube videos on here so, well, I'm not going to.

Another song I had thought about which no one submitted was Midnight Train to Georgia.

FIRST PLACE: Sadie tied with herself for Sweet Home Alabama and Georgia on My Mind.

SECOND PLACE: Mary Lou for The Devil Went Down to Georgia.

And THIRD PLACE: a tie between Sadie for The Mississippi Squirrel Revival and Lisa Pie for Life is a Highway.

I will try to blog again tomorrow if anything blog worthy happens here in Gilmer.....

  1. Wow! Thank you, Beverly. In the gushing words of Sally Fields, "You like me, you really like me!"

So sorry about the dingbat on the cellphone plowing into your mother's car. I'm glad none of you were hurt, but all I can say is, "Stay away from nail salons!" You don't have a good track record and it doesn't appear to be getting any better.

    Stay safe.

  3. CRAP and GODDAMIT. I can't believe I forgot to play. I even starred the entry on the reader on my phone so I would play when I got home. And I still forgot. And I forgot until the winners were posted. I hate getting old and senile.

(it was extremely long) so I guess I'll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I'm thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I'm still new to the whole thing. Do you have any helpful hints for rookie blog writers? I'd certainly appreciate it.
